On August 4, high school football and volleyball officially kicked off their seasons at Fall Sports Camp. Cross Country and Cheerleading joined the action when school started on August 11. We are looking forward to another exciting season of TSD Athletics. Here are season previews from each of our fall sports head coaches:
Varsity Football
Head Coach Austin Sliva-Wynne shared:
"As we head into the preseason, I couldn’t be more fired up about the work this group has put in since the beginning of the summer. Our guys have attacked the weight room, attacked the field, and brought it every single day. This preseason is all about setting the tone, building on a culture of toughness, discipline, and unity that defines our program.
We’ve got a challenging schedule in front of us, and we’re embracing it. Every day is about getting better, competing at a high level, and representing our school, our families, and our community with pride. We’re going to push each other, hold each other accountable, and have fun doing it. The energy around this team is undeniable, and I can’t wait to see what this group accomplishes together this season."
High School Cross Country
Head Coach Nick Bannon said:
"We are excited to be hosting the National Deaf Cross Country Meet (NDCC) during Homecoming this year! We’ll be showcasing two great courses—one on campus and one off-campus here in Austin. Our runners have been building momentum, with strong performances at both NDCC and the Berg-Seeger Track Meet in 2024–2025. With a full schedule of 10 meets this fall, we’re aiming high. Let’s bring the NDCC Championship back to TSD!"
High School Volleyball
Head Coach CJ Upchurch stated:
"As we kicked off our season last week, we’re thrilled to return a large core of experienced players along with several key transfers joining the program. After graduating three seniors, our JV and Varsity squads are already showing great promise. Veteran players are stepping up as leaders, setting the tone for the season, and both teams look strong. Our goal is to make a deep postseason run while continuing to raise the standard for Texas Volleyball and firmly placing us in the MAP this year. We are especially excited to host Spike Out XXV here at TSD this fall and can’t wait to compete at the highest level."
