Chris Hamilton

Chris Hamilton has served as the Athletic Director at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) since 2001. Prior to joining TSD, he worked as a Physical Education and Health teacher at both the North Carolina School for the Deaf and the California School for the Deaf–Fremont. He also served as Athletic Director at the North Carolina School for the Deaf for one year. Chris began his coaching career at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf, where he served as an assistant coach for varsity boys basketball for three years. He then coached at the North Carolina School for the Deaf, serving as an assistant varsity boys basketball coach for one year before becoming the head coach for one year. At the California School for the Deaf–Fremont, he served as the varsity boys basketball head coach for two years. After joining TSD, he served as the varsity boys basketball head coach for 16 years. Beyond high school basketball, Chris has represented and coached at the national and international levels. He served as an assistant coach for the USA Men’s Basketball Team at the DIBF World Deaf Basketball Championships in Guangzhou, China, in 2007. He was also a member of the USA Deaf Handball Team and participated in the 2001 Deaflympics in Rome, Italy. In 2013, he served as the head coach of the USA Deaf Handball Team at the Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria.
 
Chris has also been actively involved in Deaf interscholastic athletics at the national level. He has served as a board member of the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA) since 2007.
 
Outside of athletics, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, Jody, their three sons, daughter-in-law, and three dogs.
