2019 Willigan Wrestling Tournament

The Ranger Wrestling team went to Maryland this past weekend for the 14th Annual Willigan Tournament at Maryland school for the Deaf. We are happy with our results. We finished the team tournament with a 4-1 record on Friday beating Riverside 50-24, Fremont 48-24, Maryland 42-30, Model 39-23 before losing to Indiana 48-33. 

On Saturday, we competed in individual tournament and we are proud to announce that 6 of our boys qualified for the individuals championship match. Five of our Rangers wrestlers nabbed first place! 
 
Muhammad Ali (106 lbs) defeated Peter Thang from Maryland 11-6.
Brandon Brentham (113 lbs) defeated Jaquan Smith from Indiana 7-3.
Eric Nieva  (145 lbs) pinned Sabu Middlebrook of Indiana.
Mark Rubio (220 lbs) pinned Corbyn Gray from Indiana.
Xavier Morris (HWT)  beat Jose Ruiz III from Model 5-4 in a thrilling triple overtime. 
Ethan Lippold (138lbs) lost to Michael Williams Jr. from Maryland by pin and won second place.
