On November 3rd, most of our high school winter sports officially kicked off their seasons, except for boys basketball, as football is still in season. Below are the head coaches' comments on their season previews:
Girls Basketball
Head Coach Andy Donatich shared:
"Our varsity girls lost only two seniors from last year, and we’ve added three new players who will make significant contributions right away. We have a strong core group ready to make some noise this season. We play in an extremely tough district, which pushes us to elevate our level of play every single day.
The team has been working hard to improve our chemistry, conditioning, and execution on both ends of the floor. Our returning players bring valuable experience and leadership, while our new additions add depth and versatility to our lineup. With our mix of talent, determination, and teamwork, we’re excited to compete at a high level and make a statement this season."
Boys Basketball
Head Coach Dylan Sicoli stated:
"As we begin a new season, we’re embracing a fresh start and a clear identity. Our team motto this year is: Practice like you’ve never won. Play like you’ve never lost. This keeps us grounded, focused, and hungry to improve every day.
We’re committed to playing unselfish basketball — trusting the pass, working together, and playing with high energy on the defensive end. It’s about effort, communication, and doing the little things that help the team succeed.
This group is showing discipline and a willingness to push one another. New season — new beginning. I’m excited for the growth ahead and proud to represent TSD with this team. Let’s get to work."
Cheerleading
Head Coach Anika Webster shared:
"Winter Varsity Cheerleading is back and off to an exciting start! Last week kicked off our first week of practice, and our 10 amazing cheerleaders are already showing incredible teamwork, energy, and school spirit. Each day, they’re working hard to perfect their routines, stunts, and cheers as they get ready for the season ahead.
The team is preparing for their first performance on November 18, where they’ll cheer on our varsity girls’ basketball team. Beyond game days, they’re also gearing up for three major competitions this year: the Cajun Classic, Clerc Classic, and the National Deaf Cheerleading Competition.
It’s going to be a busy and rewarding season filled with hard work, spirit, and pride. Our cheerleaders are ready to represent the Rangers and make our community proud. We hope to see you in the stands cheering them on as they bring their energy to every game and competition. Go Rangers!"
Swimming
Head Coach Nick Bannon mentioned:
"The 2025–2026 TSD HS Swim Team is shaping up to be an exciting one, especially with 10+ girls and 10+ boys joining. Our roster is a mix of returning veterans and new swimmers joining the team for the first time.
Each swimmer is looking forward to a shared experience — setting new goals, hitting personal records, creating memories, and having fun while being their very best!"
Wrestling
Head Coach Arthur Rodriguez said:
"We have a large number of wrestlers this season, along with two new assistant coaches. The team is eager to work hard and has a strong desire to improve. With that mindset, they are ready to hit the mat. Our goal is to bring home more medalists from all tournaments, including Willigan and TAPPS State. We will make sure we represent the Rangers with heart and pride."
