Varsity Girls Basketball - Brentwood Tournament

The TSD Varsity girls team started off 2020 with a four-game tournament hosted by Brentwood Christian.  The teams included Brentwood Christian, St. Dominic Savio, San Antonio Legacy Prep, Regents, and TSD.  Our first game on Friday morning was against Regents Academy.  We won 47-30.  The second game was against St. Dominic Savio.  This game would be a disappointment for all as our passing was sloppy, our turnovers were uncharacteristic, and we flat out stunk.  This was a classic "we beat ourselves" game as there are very few games won with 31 turnovers and lost 38-45.  As this was our first loss of the season, the girls were very upset but it humbled us and allowed us to reflect on commitment, energy, and taking opportunities for granted.  Our defensive effort on Friday really were a disappointment.

As we regrouped with two more games on Saturday against Legacy in the morning and Brentwood in the afternoon.  The girls stepped up with their intensity on both ends of the court and won the morning game 48-19.  The afternoon game would be a second match against Brentwood and coaches understand that beating one team twice is always hard so we reminded the players to be prepared for their best effort.  Our response was appropriate - we won 40-20 taking 2nd place.  Coming up is our first district game and our focus is taking care of business - each player recognizes that all of the games leading up to Tuesday do not count.  District play is where each game means something and we are ready.

Record: 19-1
