FEAST Tournament - Girls Basketball

The Varsity girls basketball team headed down to San Antonio this past weekend to participate in the FEAST Tournament.  Our goal was to defend our championship title from last year and to continue showing improvement on both ends of the court.  The first game on Friday afternoon was against Abilene Hawks, which we won 51-36.  The second game against the Central Texas Saints was the second matchup in three weeks.  It was a true test of our will to win and we responded very well - winning a very physical game by a score of 44-42.

Since we finished at the top of our pool, we had a first round bye in the tournament bracket.  The second round game put us against a team from Australia!  The South East Storm was in the middle of a three-week tour in the US.  They had a 6'3" girl who gave us challenges but we eventually pulled away for a 50-20 victory.

The championship game was a rematch of last year's championship game with the host team: FEAST Patriots.  Our girls dominated with a strong defensive performance and FEAST had no answer.  The final score of the championship game was 51-26.  The coaches were pleased with the discipline of our defense and the ability of the players to communicate with each other on the court.

Up next, we have Brentwood Christian on Tuesday before hosting the Ranger Classic featuring Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana schools for the deaf.
