Colombo Swim Center

The pool is named after Leroy Colombo, a well-known deaf lifeguard in Galveston, TSD for saving more than a thousand lives from drowning in the waters surrounding the Galveston Island.  The historical marker "In Memory of Leroy Colombo" is located in Galveston. He was a student at TSD until he left the school to be a lifeguard in 1922.  He is credited in the Guinness Book of the World Records for saving the most people from drowning.
