MEET SUMMARY – CC MEET#3 at Salado Tenroc Ranch

The TSD Cross-Country Team traveled north to the Salado Tenroc Ranch CC Meet arriving early with the weather being overcast, cloudy skies, humid, temperatures in the 80s and climbing slowly. Tenroc Ranch is a country-style Texas ranch that is currently used for special occasions, weddings, and cross-country meets! The landscape is picturesque with rolling hills, grass, trees, a pond, a small stream, and winding paths. A great place for a challenging cross-country meet. Our runners did well, once again!  Freshman, ANABELLE WEAVER (22:51)  led all TSD girls runners in the 5A-6A Varsity Girls Division. Also participating in the same 5A-6A Varsity Girls Division division are the following runners:  Junior JAIDA SCOTT (25:24) tied her season best, running a second straight 25:24, this time on a more challenging course, so we should see a PR from her at the next race. Freshman KAITLYN SUCILLA-OROZCO (28:14), who also is on the TSD JV Volleyball Team ran her first 5K ever and did very well achieving a sub 30-min 5K. Senior KACIE SMITH (34:42) put in a solid effort, running steadily throughout, including a strong finish with a sprint. Senior ALONDRA SALAS-LEON gave it her best shot at her first 5K as well, but did not finish as she sprained her ankle on the course. Running in the 2 mile JV Girls Division was had Senior KAILIN CAMPBELL (21:57) showing a much better pacing effort. Senior SELINA GARCIA, ran her very best before being unable to continue with a sprained ankle. The boys were led, once again, by junior JOE CARDENAS (19:41who actually ran a season best on a much tougher course. Sophomore BRODY VUKMONICH (25:35) slightly increased his time from the previous meet, yet improved his Tenroc Ranch course time from 2016 by nearly 3 minutes. Rounding out all the boys who ran in the Varsity 1A-4A race was senior TARIQUE SYLVESTER (27:27), also with an increased time, but a personal best on this particular course. Participating in the boys JV 1A-6A race, we had senior PABLO CASTRO (37:50) who completed his first full 5K run after finishing short at the previous meet. Pablo powered through the difficult course vowing a continuous run from start to finish! Sophomore HEYDON DAVIS (40:25) doubled his distance from the previous meet finishing 2 miles with a much stronger effort and it paid off!!
